WARNING: This guide is intended for fast leveling, and reset skills at lv40. After reset, one may have to adjust to their desire elemental skills. (Especially for water mage, damage will drop by a lot).
*****First is to ditch that staff, yes, that staff is really isn't very useful for mage in Latale. Staff attack is weak and slow, charging attack really useless and it only increase magic accuracy by 5%.**********
Lv1 - 7 :
use knuckle, either buy one or will get one from early quest.
Equip a fire stone from lv3
Skill points:
Lv2- fire mastery basic,
Lv3- fireburst
Lv4- earth mastery basic
Lv5- earth dragon
Lv6- daggers mastery basic
Lv7- sonic daggers
Follow quests, use skills learn and heavy attack in between cooldown. Try to keep up with the gears, use the higest gears you can, lv5,6,7 gears are sold in traveler's camp.
From Lv8 to Lv 20
One obtain sonic dagger, time to switch to dagger and shield
Shield gives more defense and at this point, you can spam skills. One of the 3 skills should be always ready to use at anytime.
The sequence of adding skill points to which skills is not that important from this point on.
Lv8 fireburst lv2
Lv9 fire mastery basic
Lv10 fireburst lv3
Lv11 - 13 fire mastery basic
Lv14 - 15 sonic daggerlv2 & 3
Lv16 - 18 magic upgrade
Lv19- save this point.
Lv20 - flameburt lv1 and assassin dagger lv1
From lv21 to Lv39
Keep up with gears and elemental stones. At this point earth dragon damage will reduced a lot compared to fireburst. Skill spamming should start switch to the 2 fire skills and 2 dagger skills as earth dragon out lived its usefulness.
Lv21 - 24 fire mastery skilled/magic upgrade
Lv25 - 26 flame burst lv2 and assassin dagger lv2
Lv26 - 29 fire mastery skilled/magic upgrade
lv30 - 31 flame burst lv3 and assassin dagger lv3
lv32 - 39 fire mastery skilled/magic upgrade
At lv40 Buy skill reset from NPC and reset to the element of your choice.
Skill reset cost 100k ely + all the skills need to be purchase over again e.g. magic upgrade.
Note:
personally I don't think fire enchant is worth it due to limited damage added, only elemental buffs seem useful are wind walk and stone armor.
Join a lv2+ guild to gain guild bonus.
Each elements have different style skills, may takes time to adjust to after reset.
Always have iris fragment handy, wrap out when you are about to die.
Builds after reset for wind, earth and fire at lv40. (Really there is no point doing water, there is healer guide around)
Wind
- weak damage, fast cooldown, low sp cost per skill, damage reduce from 2 or more mobs(except aero slicer). Wind can chain its 3 skills at lv40 continuously. Due to weaker damage and continuous spamming skills, general sp consumption may not lower than earth/fire.
Build
- Wind Mastery basic 5
- Wind Mastery skilled 10

- Wind Walk 5 - 45% speed increase.

From lv41 to lv80
After revising elemental mastery expert and the points need to get to elemental master, I reconsider wind mastery
expert is worthwhile since elemental master takes too many points to get to, almost need to give up few mastery skill and buff to get to.
There are a noticeable damage difference with wind mastery maxed out (thanks to darkoda).
lv45, 50 - aero slicer 2,3
lv59,60 - save that point from 59 to get tornado swing at 60
lv64,65 - tornado swing 2
lv69,70 - tornado swing 3
All 30 points in between those lvls:
- Resting type add total of at least 5 points to Mind Square (so 3 more here). Then add wind mastery expert then misc skills: elemental harmony, elemental protection and elemental master
- Self Healing type add 2 points to Undine Heal low, mid, and high. Then go for elemental harmony, elemental protection and elemental master
- Non supportive pot type just ignore those above and go straight for wind mastery expert, elemental harmony, elemental protection and elemental master(this is the reward).
Earth
- moderate damage, moderate cooldown, high sp cost per skill, damage reduce from 3 or more mobs. Unlike wind skills can't chain continuously. I recommend dagger skills in between waiting time. Earth skills are all one hit skills except gold dragon.

Just as wind, I reconsidered about earth mastery expert, and think it is worthwhile to get. Easier access than elemental master. My suggest earth mage build is tight on skill points.

lv46 - 49 - Stone armor
lv50 - Twin dragon 3
lv51 - Stone armor
lv52 - 57 - Dagger Mastery basic/earth mastery expert

I recommend max out stone armor reduce 20 damage per physical hit helps a lot.

Wind, Earth and Fire mage and hybrid healer build - with no intention to reset.
Disclaimer: I have little experience on healing, this guide not the "best" or "only" builds.
I recommend all mages to start with knuckles than switch to dagger and shield around lv5 and shield; also try to keep the armor up to level.
Mage's staff normal skills are bad, a slow short range staff swing and a long time charged attack are worthless.
Dagger gives better normal attacks and shield for extra defense, I personally think that is better than +5% magic accuracy increase from staff.
A mage relies mostly (if not always) on their skills.
The true weapon of a mage is their elemental stone, dagger level rarely matters unless you picked up dagger skills.
*******Mage does less damage than explorer in general, don't hope to out damage an explorer (especially xbow)*****
Privarin dagger will help increase magic damage slightly, either farm privarin or save up ely for the urn - this one is not a must.
Wind - no reset
Wind skills are lower in damage, but cost less sp and faster cooldown time.
Wind user will have a HARDER time from lv1 to 40, because this build takes into account after lv40, wind skills short cooldown will allow the 3 skills to cast continuously, therefore no need for dagger skill. This no reset build will give the user only 1 skill till lv20 and 2 skills till lv40.
