Force Shielder and General Info FAQ (Part TWO)

So you want to be a Force Shielder?well?I?ˉm the JUGGERNAUT *****!!!
In the Cabal Melee Trinity (Warrior, Blader, and Force Shielder), the Shielder is the most defense oriented melee character. With the ability to wear strong armor and a shield, the Shielder takes the least dmg of any class?assuming your opponent is not insanely stronger then you. Basically we?ˉre the tanks of the game. However because we have a shield on one arm, our offense suffers. Take the warrior?ˉs armor and one of the blader?ˉs blades, and you have a general picture of a shielder. In my opinion, Shielders are also the most easy to use character. The ability to solo multiple mobs then killing them with the many Shielder AoE skills, allows the Shielder to lvl up a little quicker then most of the other classes. Also being one of the two characters in the game with the heal spell is a great help too. :) In fact, I?ˉve never used a potion ever? In my own opinion, the shielder with their ability to tank and various AoE moves is also the best item gatherer. Even at lvl 50, their 2nd battle stance is made primary for mobs, as all the moves are AoE.

PROS
-Highest defense of any character class
-Surprising strong AoE (Area of Effect) spells
-One of the two characters with the heal spell in addition to a regeneration spell
-Very Party Oriented?can tank into a bunch of enemies while healing party members
-Able to solo and mob multiple enemies at once?
-?which leads to quite a few good drops
-Easy to use
-One of the most underused characters (Bladers and Force Bladers seem to be the top choices)

CONS
-Probably one of the lowest regular dmg output of any class. With only one of the Blader?ˉs swords?it kinda sucks.
-Fairly bad accuracy (your going to see you moves and skills miss a good amount)
-Not one of the best characters to use in a PvP match, the lack of effective PvP moves kinda sucks. Even your lvl 50 stance is more inclined toward mobs?but at least we look cool doing it.

Combo Mode (lvl 10 growth quest)
When activated, a bar will appear in the top. Basically you press hotkeys corresponding to your special moves when the bar gets close to the 2nd line. The only advantage for combo mode is that your moves will do a lot of dmg when you do it right?and you cool

Aura Mode (lvl 20 growth quest)
When activated, your preselected aura (Fire, Ice, Water, Lighting, Earth) will surround your body. The Mode essentially just augments some major points into your character. Although it has been debated over, Auras give all the same stats they only differ graphically. Depending on how you answer the questions on this quest, determines what aura you get. Search for that FAQ if you need help. The outcome for each aura is the same for each class. I also believe that each mode lvls up after every 10 lvls?this is pure speculation though.

1st Battle Mode (lvl 30 growth quest)
http://gallery.filefront.com/WarShy//212178/
Finally a mode that is unique to the shielder class. After the quest, you get a mode called?Counter Attacker! Think Aura mode with a unique benefit. When you are attacked, the attacker will receive dmg. You can even sit down while monsters kill themselves. However this counter attack does have a kryptonite. It will NOT counter skill moves. This could be bad or good depending on the situation. Monsters will receive dmg, but cunning players will not. However the good thing is that in order to use their skills, players will need to use mana. This mode forces them to use up their mana pool. This is good?unless they have a vast amount of stored potions?then your screwed :) ALSO IMPORTANT! This move will not stack with Aura mode!

2nd Battle Mode (lvl 50 growth quest)
I personally have not achieved this yet, but hopefully one day I will. Judging from what I?ˉve seen in videos and players that have achieved this mode, your sword will disappear and your shield will start glowing. You can then use the shield like a yoyo. It also allows you to do some very powerful AoE moves. If any high shielder can pm me stuff, it would be appreciated.

Slash a target with the force of the wind in one breath

I passed this move in the beginning thinking it was as piece of crap. I didn?ˉt know it was a multiple enemy skill move back then?such a noob:sigh: However after testing it I have discovered it is a useful beginning skill that is shared with all the melee characters. It is useful especially early on because it hits more then one target. It will hit approximately 3 enemies 180 degrees in front of you. This move can also knockdown

When used, your character will suddenly thrust into your opponent. This is fairly useful in the beginning, although in my opinion I like Flash Draw better. This move also has a ?°Pierce?± effect. In essence, you will likely hit enemies only if their in a row?I?ˉve personally haven?ˉt seen this scenario come up often?

This is really just a charge up attack. After trying it out a few times, I really didn?ˉt see any real use for this move except it is a fairly strong move.

Stab a target with a force enhanced sword

I really don?ˉt know why I put in so many damn points into this skill. It is a pumped up version of its Novice counterpart, the Impact Stab. This means it too has the pierce effect, even though it doesn?ˉt state it. The only good things about it is that its amp fairly high and it gains +2.50/lvl.

Increase one?ˉs movement speed for a short period of time

This reasonably useful move can be used defensively or offensively. Like the Fade Step, you can run away with it. However you have to turn around before you can run away, as the move makes you slide straight forward. The situation will come up ever so often. On some quests, you will have to go read something or go into a dungeon that has insanely strong monster around it. I remember that there is one quest where you have to read a log or something that is surrounded by the tree enemies in Green Despair. I believe these trees are one of the strongest enemies in the game so?I ran in and lured them away, then ran back toward the log. The dash just gave me some extra time. Offensively, you can use this move to get closer to an opponent, useful against the Ranged classes.

A very useful move, it is a jacked up version of the Flash Draw, meaning it hits enemies in 180 degrees in front of you. When you can get this move, drop Flash Draw for either this one or Soaring Shot. Also this move can knock over and/or knock away an enemy.

Swing a sword upward to make a target lose its balance

A practical skill, when activated you will swing your ?°sword upward.?± Its main use is to knock an enemy over, but this seems to happen less and less depending on the enemy lvl. A small fault in this skill is that it has no dmg amp. Otherwise it is a pretty good skill.

Soaring Shot
Attack Amp: x1.30
Add Attack: +104.90 (2.20/lvl)
Range:0~1
Limit:2
MP Use:18
Cool Time: 4 secs
Rank: Regular 11

Cut down a target using a force enhanced sword

Wow?currently I use this attack the most. After getting it I dropped my lvl 11 Slash Break in favor for this move. This move is so versatile that I?ˉve seen some lvl 50 shielders still using it. It is a even more pumped up version of the 180-degree skills. If you look at the stats though, even at lvl 11, the Slash Break still isn?ˉt as powerful as the Soaring Shot. However this comes at a price, the cooldown is longer. This skill also has the knockdown and/or knock away property.

(I?ˉll add more skills as I learn more about them)

MAGIC SKILLS
*This is probably going to be the most messed up section in the FAQ as I do not use many of the Shielder?ˉs Magic Skills. The Shielder, like all the other classes, is given the option to use numerous elemental spells. I don?ˉt believe that any creature has any particular elemental weakness, so it is more for aesthetic reasons. All the various elemental spells have various attack growth and range, but I don?ˉt think they are very useful. Personally the only ranged magic attack I have is the novice lvl Magic Arrow, unupgraded and only used in certain situations. I only use it when I am grinding and need to pick a weaker enemy that is walking with stronger enemies. With the Magic Arrow, I can lure the weak enemy out. The magic arrow is practical too because at lvl 1 it uses a low amount of mana while being the magic attack 2nd in range. However this is not to say that the shielder does not need to improve his magic rank. The buffs, heal spell, and shield moves are all under this tab.

**buff duration increases with lvl

Since I haven?ˉt done much magic rank improvement, I?ˉm not sure which move is in which rank. Some help with this section would be appreciated.

Pierce an enemy with the energy of the astral shield

This is one of the moves you start out with as a shielder. It is pretty basic, when used your shielder will raise their shield and a small explosion will occur. It does fairly good dmg and has a low mp cost. This move can also push enemies back.

Enables its user to naturally restore the HP even when in battle

When activated, a blue sphere will magically appear on top of your character. If you have lost health, it will start to regenerate back. This move is moderately useful for lower lvl characters as you will be able to grind without any trouble. Currently I only use this move when I?ˉm mobbing orange enemies or have to run through a dangerous are for a quest. If you are lucky, you can pick up a force ring that returns a % of your health back to you.

Increase damage with critical attacks

A great buff. It allows you to not only get more crits but also increases the dmg of them. Depending on how many points you put into this skill, the skill could be highly useful. I?ˉm not sure how many points you can put into a single skill, but if you could put 45 in, that would be you would crit 50% of the time for 100% dmg! That?ˉs pretty ridiculous this would increase both your regular and skill attacks. I haven?ˉt tried this yet, but this move might be able to be used on other people other then yourself. I?ˉll test it out later as it would increase the rating of this move. Imagine a blader with their 1st battle mode (Illusionist, adds around 50% to both crit dmg and rate) with this buff?on man?I think I just had a orgasm?whew
UPGRADES
When you raise at least one of your ranks to one that matches the upgrade rank, you will be able to buy them. So if you have a Regular sword rank and a Apprentice rank magic, you will be able to buy and upgrade in the Regular list. Basically Upgrades just augment your character by adding health, magic, hit/dodge rate, etc. I personally have only bought the health and magic as I figure a shielder with even more health and mana couldn?ˉt hurt :)

Visualize a magic shield using one?ˉs force

You should never be without your shield. It is the cornerstone of the shielder. Not only does it increase your defense, but it also allows you to do your shield skills. I believe it lvls up every 10 lvls.
