Those who followed his ideals ended up being chased away and fled to remote regions. They set up in a location, far from other civilizations, living on the edge of light and darkness...
Having strong attack strength and quick body movements, Dark Elves are a class specializing in close combat.
Setting Up and Starting your Dark Elf
The Dark Elf is one of the most versatile characters in the game. There are quite a few different types of Dark Elves that people prefer to have. I will explain them before I explain the Dark Elf leveling experience.
The key states for Dark Elves (depending on what type you make) are: Wisdom (WIS), Intelligence (INT), Dexterity (DEX), Constitution (CON) and Strength (STR). Wisdom affects how much mana your character will have, and currently the success rate of changing Bring Stones into other components for the specialized Dark Elf weaponry. Bring stones are obtained from Black Blood Stones (please search Black Blood Stones for more information). At an equal importance is your Intelligence, since it is what affects your spell power; how effective your spells are. Dexterity is important in determining how accurate you are with your attack. This is especially important for using a gauntlet or for use with a crossbow. Since the Dexterity starts off as one of the highest stats for a Dark Elf, it's easy to become an effective long-range fighter. Constitution is what gives you the most Hit Points (HP) per level up. The more Hit Points you have, the easier it is to live longer. Strength affects the amount of damage you do to a monster or person and also affects how much you can carry. Since some of the strongest Dark Elf weapons are melee weapons, strength can be very helpful for taking down large mops.
The base stats that you get for a Dark Elf are as follows with 10 extra points to distribute:
- Strength: 12
- Dexterity: 15
- Constitution: 8
- Wisdom: 10
- Charisma: 9
- Intelligence: 11
The distribution of these 10 points are up to you based on what your playing preference is from the stats mentioned above. The stats that I would suggest are as follows:

- 18 Dexterity, 15 Constitution = A Dexterity Dark Elf with good accuracy, and good constitution
- 17 Strength, 13 Constitution = A Strength Dark Elf with decent HP.
- 18 Strength, 18 Dexterity, 11 Wisdom = Good ranged/melee attack with slightly improved purify stone
- 18 Strength, 16 Dexterity, 13 Wisdom = Good melee attack, ok ranged attack, better wisdom.
- 16 Strength, 18 Dexterity, 13 Wisdom = Good ranged attack, ok melee attack, better wisdom
- 13 Strength, 16 Dexterity, 18 Wisdom = Most MP, ok ranged attack, high success rate at purify stone.
Dexterity/AC Bonus
As a bonus, as you level, you will gain extra AC. This is determined by the base Dexterity that your character has. The formula is as follows:
Dex 18 = Every 4 levels you will receive -1 AC
Dex 16-17 = Every 5 levels you will receive -1 AC
Dex 13-15 = Every 6 levels you will receive -1 AC
Dex 10-12 = Every 7 levels you will receive -1 AC
Dex 7-9 = Every 8 levels you will receive -1 AC
Other Bonuses
+1 "to hit" for every 3 character levels
+1 Melee-only damage for every 10 character levels
Base Magic Resistance (MR) at level 1 can go from 10-20. This will change on the amoutn of wisdom that was added.
Getting Started
Now that you have chosen your stats, here is a basic guide on how to level up your Dark Elf. Please note that there are many different preferences on where to hunt; this is just our opinion.
As a dark elf, you will find yourself in <a href="http://www.lineagedb.com/loc/detail.php?id=188">Silent Cavern</a>. This is the beginning area of the game for Dark Elves. Dark Elves have a choice of leveling areas for the beginning. You can speak to Enya, a teleportation NPC, to teleport to <a href="http://www.lineagedb.com/loc/detail.php?id=4">Hidden Valley</a>, or you can proceed to the south to find the Dark Elf Village and Silence Grounds. Personally, I recommend Hidden Valley for the initial leveling because there are NPC's in Hidden Valley that will haste you for free, and cast enchantments on your armor and weapons for a small price. Very useful until you can cast these spells yourself. I would recommend looking around as much as you can to familiarize your self with the surrounding land and landmarks. Talk to some of the NPC's to find out their function and get a hang of the game.
I want to mention this here as I find it very crucial to the game until you are fully lawful. As you walk around the town, pick up as much junk (letters, meat, lamps, lanterns, armors, weapons, etc.). Just make sure that your weight does not go over 50%. I would suggest picking up or sending yourself as many letters as you can since they don't take up much if any weight. You will want a lot of these, probably around 70-100. You are probably thinking that this sounds really stupid, but here is the point. If you are not full lawful (32,767 alignment points) and you die, you will drop an item from your inventory. By carrying so many letters, you will usually drop a letter rather than the important item you don't want to lose. Note that this does not guarantee that you will drop one of the items you want, it just improves the statistics of you not dropping it.
If you look in your inventory window (press the Tab key), you will see a map of Silent Caverns, a leather jacket, and a dagger. Put on the leather jacket by double clicking on it, and then do the same with the dagger.
Levels 1 to 4
After familiarizing yourself with the towns you will want to go to the Training areas. In Hidden Valley they are just North of town just outside of the town perimeter. There are a few training dummies that new players can use to level up in the northeastern part of Silence Ground or in Silent Caverns.
There are a lot of Scarecrows or poles (they spin in a circle) that you can attack to gain experience. Walk up to one of the scarecrows or training pole, and start clicking on it to attack it. A trick here is the auto-swing. Click on the scarecrow and hold the mouse button down as you drag the mouse to the chat area at the bottom of the screen. When you release the button, you should be on auto swing and will keep swinging at the scarecrow. You will want to stay here at the training grounds until you get to level 5.
Levels 5 to 10
Now that you have reached level 5, it is time to go fight some monsters. I would familiarize yourself with the area and try to find some areas that have some easier mops such as goblins, kobolds, and orcs in Hidden Valley. It should be noted that Silent Caverns is not totally a newbie area. The mops down in Silent Cavern are "pack-minded" like some of the mops on Talking Island or around Silver Knight Town. Hitting one type of creature will set most of the other creatures of that type to aggressive, and they will attack you with the exception of Werewolves, Stone Golems, and Lizardmen.
