Levels 4 to 10
The next phase of life can be a little tougher, but you will be getting stronger and will start to see more interesting creatures.
Western Antonica Area:
There is only one place where you will want to be for these levels, and that is the Qeynos Hills/Blackburrow area. In this area you will want to focus on Giant Rats, Gnoll Pups, Beetles, and the occasional Gnoll Scout until level five. As soon as you hit five, you will want to head to the entrance of Blackburrow. To get there simply follow the hills past the cottage until you see a large rock out-cropping in the shape of a dog’s face. Right outside of the entrance, one to two Gnolls spawn. Near a tree and on the hill nearby three Gnoll Watchers spawn. You can probably take a Gnoll or two solo at five, but you will want help for the Watchers.
As soon as you hit six, you can continue to fight Gnolls and Watchers outside Blackburrow, or you could live on the wild side and go inside. If you choose to do that, stay on the upper levels of Blackburrow, and fight only Scrawny Gnolls (they are about as strong as the Gnolls and Watchers outside). You can get a group to fight stronger foes if you choose.
From seven to eight continue to fight in Blackburrow, eventually going down the ramp to the "med room". This is a room at the bottom of the entrance ramp where people usually rest up in-between fights. At these levels you can easily take on regular Gnolls and maybe a Patrolling Gnoll or two.
As soon as you hit nine you will want to head to one of the three Giant Snake spawn locations. Here are directions to each one:
- From the med room, cross the bridge, and go down the ramp then turn right and follow the wall to a door. Go inside and run up the slope to find two Giant Snakes to your right, and another over the little hill to the left.
- Instead of turning right at the bottom of the ramp, turn left until you come to a large rock in the middle of a shallow pool of water. Go around to the other side of it to find an underwater passage. Swim to the ladder and climb up to the "snake ledge". There are four spawns up here.
- From the Snake Ledge, continue up the ramp to the first door on your left (be careful, sometimes a Gnoll Guardsmen spawns near here). Enter the door to find the Snake Pit with two spawns.
Giant Snakes can level you up to level thirteen, and sometimes drop Giant Snake Fangs or Venom Sacks. The Fangs can be used as a piercing weapon, and are great for low level casters or rogues. They sell for anywhere between 3 and 4gp to vendors, but they can go for up to onepp to a player. The Venom Sacks sell for about the same to vendors as the Fangs do, but no player needs them.
Eastern Antonica Area
Once again in this area you will want to be in Misty Thicket, but there are still some things for you to level off in the Commonlands. You can take Large Spiders (not the Giant Spiders) that spawn near the second(or middle) Inn that is near the Desert side of the Zone. These will fuel you up to level six or seven. After that you can try to take a Giant Spider, and maybe a Lioness. From eight to ten try to find a group to the various Orc Camps. Not only is the experience great, but you can turn the Deathfist Slashed Belts into the warriors guild in Freeport for great exp.
If you are playing a Cleric, you can easily handle the top floor of Befallen solo from level five or six on. Just use Ward Undead to nuke, but look out for the Skeleton Lrodd.
As for Misty Thicket, you will now want to venture past the wall to fight Goblins. These guys can take you all the way up to level ten.
Faydwer
On the small continent of Faydwer, there is only one place you want to be at this level range and that is the area outside Crushbone, and then inside after Level six. The hill near the small Orc camp outside is perfect for levels four through six, but after that you will want to venture inside Crushbone.
Another good area around level eight is the fields near the Minotaur Caves in Steamfont. In this area are Earth Elementals, Harpies, Skeletons, as well as some Minotaurs. You can hunt here solo, but a group is safer as there are usually never guards in this zone (they are all dead by the hands of high level powergamers).
